Paraprofessional Certification Exam

Testing Location: Washington Twp Adult Ed office - 8401 Westfield Blvd. (enter door #4 on the back side of the school) | Indianapolis 46240

Program Description -
The Paraprofessional certification is for those who have a high school diploma or working towards a high school equivalency and desire a position as an instructional assistant or substitute teaching in an elementary, middle, or high school.
Certification exam -
This state-funded exam is a 2.5-hour exam consisting of 90 multiple-choice questions that cover reading, math, and writing. The test focuses on basic skills in each of these areas and also has questions about how to use those skills in the classroom.
Washington Township will pay for the first exam. If subsequent exams are required, participants will need to pay $55 per exam attempt after that and will need to wait at least 28 days between each attempt.
Requirements for taking the Parapro Exam -
Participants will begin by registering in our program by filling out a registration and taking a TABE assessment in Reading and Math (approximately a 3-hour assessment). The TABE assessment results give us a good indication that you can pass the Parapro Exam. Participants must achieve the minimum required score on the TABE assessments (Reading and Math) to continue to the Parapro exam.

Please Note -
You do not have to live or work in Washington Township to take the Parapro Exam.
