Paraprofessional Training and Certification-  56 hours

 

The Paraprofessional certification is for those who have a high school diploma or working towards a high school equivalency that desires a position as an instructional assistant or substitute teaching in an elementary, middle, or high school.

 

Class objective: Support learning and Safe Schools online training modules, with the goal of earning the Parapro certification leading to immediate employment within a K-12 school district. 

 

Certification exam: A 2.5-hour exam consisting of 90 multiple-choice questions that cover reading, math, and writing. The test focuses on basic skills in each of these areas and also has questions about how to use those skills in the classroom. 

 

Safe Schools modules: Providing learning opportunities specific to school staff employment preparation. The following Safe Schools modules are included in the training: Bloodborne Pathogens | Restraints & Seclusions | Bullying Prevention | Classroom Safety | De-Escalation Strategies
