Come to the Water

Hilltop Pool is a delightful small, shallow water pool heated to 88 degrees. An easy stair step with railing leads you into a healing oasis that soothes sore joints, muscles and helps with arthritis and other conditions. We have gentle water fitness, arthritis classes, aqua power workouts and water fitness classes, depending on your personal fitness abilities and goals. Start or end your day with healing, soothing water movement. You don’t need to be a swimmer to enjoy the benefits of water exercise.

Benefits of Water Exercise

The water’s buoyancy creates a reduced impact exercise alternative that is easy on the joints, while the water’s resistance challenges the muscles. Cardio exercises promote aerobic calorie burn, healthy heart and lungs. Core strengthening and balance exercises help your overall functioning ability, strength and quality of life. Combining upper and lower body movements with the water’s resistance increases muscle toning, range of motion and flexibility. Arthritis Foundation Program certified instructors lead specific arthritis exercises design to reduce inflammation, help range of motion, help joint health and overall energy levels.

Location:

Hilltop pool Ranges in depth from 3.5 to 5 feet with water temperatures around 86-88 degrees. The pool is accessible with wide, graduated, hand-rail lined steps and hand rails continue around most of the pool perimeter. Pool lift chair available. Dressing rooms and showers are available.

Arthritis Foundation Aquatics AFA:

is a recreational exercise program designed to accommodate the abilities of individuals with arthritis and other related diseases (like M.S. and Parkinson's). Class activities and exercise improve muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and balance, helping clients maintain independence, manage pain, and relieve symptoms of arthritis. You need not be a swimmer to enjoy this class.

Water Fitness:

Tone muscles, improve aerobic capacity, improve core strength and balance, improve endurance and overall fitness in an environment that is kind to joints. After a total body warm up, you’ll have a fun and challenging water fitness class utilizing a wide variety of equipment or simply by using the water’s resistance.

Gentle Water Fitness:

This is a good place to start if you are new to water fitness, recovering from an injury or are not sure where to start. Similar to water fitness, but less impact.

Aqua Power Workout:

This class uses a variety of exercises designed to increase aerobic and cardiovascular endurance, strength, balance, muscle toning and flexibility. Teaching methods include circuit training, high intensity interval work (HIIT), Pilates, Yoga and multi-directional work. Adaptations will be given as needed so all will be able to exert their most power against or with the water. Good for all fitness levels.
